What is the best way to ensure all of our data is safe?

What and how often should I back up (ie, vault, transaction logs, etc).

We run StarTeam with a SQL SERVER 2000 database.

Thanks for your assistance!

Have a look at the page http://www.foxdata.com/english/starteam/best_practices/starteam_best_practices.htm#_Toc464449525. Make sure that you stop the StarTeam server service (or lock the server) before you start the backup. Before unlocking the StarTeam server, run a batch job to backup the SQL Server StarTeam database.

The important thing to remember, is that no users must access the StarTeam server or any of its files or database during the backup process. If allowed to access the server, you will have a backup that is out of sync.
