Starteam Webaccess "Unable to post information to serve
« on: January 13, 2004, 04:41:12 PM »
We are currently trying to use Starteam web access from a clients offices, when we use starteam web access over dialup everything seems fine, but when we use it from our clients (behind their firewall) we are unable to check out/in files over the web access, we get confronted with an Internet Explorer error message saying "Unable to post information to server".

Any suggestions to how we can get round this problem without having to ask the cleitn to change their firewall settings (which would never happen!)

 Any suggestions much appreciated!

StarTeam uses a port that is not used by any of the "well known ports". An example an well known port is a standard web server that comunicates using port 80. SMTP uses port 25 and so on. Make sure that your firewall listens to and allows incoming traffic on the StarTeam port.  (I don't remember the port number, you need to look in the web admin manual.) Depending on the firewall you are using, you might need to publish the StarTeam server using firewall specific setup procedures.
