Starteam and Caliber connection problems in SDK

I have a macro in microsoft word which connects to CaliberRM.  I need to be able to connect to Starteam in the same macro to cross reference documents.  My problem is that I can only connect to one at a time.  If I connect to CaliberRM first then when I use the OpenServer command to connect to Starteam I get an error and vice versa.  Has anyone managed to connect to both at the same time?
